A biofilter for air emission control is a bed of organic material (typically a mixture of compost and wood chips, also referred to as “media” ) in which contaminated air is blown.
This media is humidified by a water spraying system and serves as a bed for developing bacteria.
Biofilter installed at Edmonton to treat the gases generate during Valoris™ process |
Bacteria consume and disintegrate the contaminated gas molecules and transform them into carbon dioxide and water. This process is a safe and natural way to destroy gases molecule responsible for the bad odors during the sludge treatment process.
Clean air can then be rejected into the atmosphere. This type of biofilter doesn't have to be often change in contrast with those who work chemically or with coal filter .
