Success of the drying test : the first outgoing sludge from Valoris™

Soon a little conveyor will be installed under the dried-sludge extractor. This little conveyor will join the principal one which will serve the two drying systems. Eventually the dried-powder moved by the principal conveyor will be associated to another one to raise the sludge directly in the container.

First mechanical validation of the Valoris™ process running !

Two weeks ago, a few quantity of digested sludge supernatant’s at 0.5% solid-content was processing by the Valoris™ system.

Supernatant at 0.5% of solid content

The entering matter was too liquid, so we couldn't continue the treatment. However the first dried-powder has been obtained and that prove that the valoris system has a large scale for incoming matter.

Dried-powder outcoming of the Valoris  process

Performance aside, this first test has permitted to confirm the functionality of the Valoris™ process in a mechanical point of view.
The drying discs have well worked apart small jolts which have been observed. But this phenomenon was due to the liquidity of the matter. In case of Edmonton, the Valoris™ system is supposed to treat incoming sludge at 10% of dried-matter.

How to build a biofilter like the one that treats odors generated during the Valoris™ sludge processing?

Step 1: Build the structure of the biofilter
Take a container of 12.5 m2 and fix tubes in the ceiling to serve as a water spraying system.
The water spraying system will homogeneously disperse the water on the compost bed.
Step 2: In the container, build the filter:  a wood structure with a fence over it
The white tube is used to spread stale air under the wood structure

Step 3:  Prepare the media
Take wood chips and organic compost and spread them in 3 layers over the fence of the wood structure
For the existing biofilter in Edmonton, we used material from Clover bar site:
At the inferior stage: 3m3 of grounded pallets:

In the middle: 3m3 of softwood milled :

On the top: 1m3 of organic compost :
